CARING FOR CHILDREN AND YOUNG PEOPLE,
TODAY AND FOR THE FUTURE

20 Feb 2026 | Health

Last week, thanks to the support of Yayasan Westerlaken Alliance, several free healthcare initiatives were carried out across our centers and at the Dharma Citta residence.

At ANAK – Aid to Indonesian Children, health is a fundamental pillar of the support we provide to children and young people in Bali. Being healthy means being able to learn, grow, thrive, and look ahead with confidence.

MEDICAL CHECK-UPS TO PREVENT AND SUPPORT

Children from our centers in Amed, Pacung, Panji Anom, Sawan, Pakisan, and Galungan, as well as teenagers from Dharma Citta, received comprehensive medical check-ups conducted in partnership with Yayasan Westerlaken Alliance

These check-ups included:

General health assessments,
Dental examinations.

This helps identify potential health issues early and allow for timely care before complications arise.

ACTING EARLY TO PROTECT HEALTH

Following these check-ups, several dental cavities were identified, making it possible to quickly schedule treatment for the children concerned.

A simple yet essential action that helps prevent pain and future complications, while improving children’s daily well-being.

These interventions also enabled ANAK’s teams to update each child’s medical record, ensuring more consistent and long-term health monitoring.

PREVENTING, INFORMING, AND RAISING AWARENESS ABOUT HIV/AIDS

Alongside the medical check-ups, dedicated awareness sessions on HIV/AIDS were organized for teenagers at the Dharma Citta residence.

These sessions provided:

  • Open discussions,
  • Clear and age-appropriate information,
  • A safe space to ask questions.

An essential moment to encourage understanding, challenge misconceptions, and promote responsible health behaviors.

TRAINING TODAY TO PROTECT TOMORROW

As part of a long-term approach focused on empowerment and knowledge-sharing, three sponsored students currently studying nursing were actively involved in these initiatives. They supported the medical teams throughout the interventions, gaining hands-on experience that is both meaningful and valuable for their future careers.

A heartfelt thank you to Yayasan Westerlaken Alliance and its medical team for their dedication and commitment to supporting children and young people.
