Supporting a child through education,
and empowering them to choose their future.
ACTING FOR THE FUTURE OF BALI’S CHILDREN
Since 2003, ANAK – Aid to Indonesian Children has been supporting access to education, from primary school through to professional integration,, for underprivileged children and teenagers across Northern and Eastern Bali..
Our work is built on four key pillars: : access to education, health, family support and environmental preservation.
We carry out this mission with deep respect for Balinese culture, working closely with local authorities, community leaders, and families
Our goal : to break the cycle of intergenerational poverty and support children and teenagers towards autonomy and independence, enabling them to build a better future.
ANAK – Aid to Indonesian Children is a French-Balinese humanitarian, non-political and independent organization, officially recognized as being of public interest in France.

IT ALL STARTED ON A BEACH IN BALI…
In 2000, in Amed, Christine Grosso met Komang Sukarya,, a fisherman’s son who had dropped out of school to support his family. This encounter deeply moved her.
She discovered a harsh reality:: on the Island of the Gods, education remains a luxury inaccessible to the poorest.
cHer life changed completely: she sold her business to give as many Balinese children as possible the chance to go to school and build a better future.
With the support of Balinese and European friends, the French-Balinese organization ANAK – Aid to Indonesian Children was officially founded in 2003..
ANAK IS NEITHER AN ORPHANAGE NOR A SCHOOL NETWORK
Each sponsored child lives with their family from primary to middle school and attends their local public school. Since 2024, ANAK High School, ocated at Singaraja, is now able to provide sponsored teenagers a full educational program lasting three years: giving them access to universities, apprenticeships and vocational programs. They live at the Dharma Citta residence, a home away from home, where they can be supported on a daily basis, while regularly returning to their families during holidays and major ceremonies.
